SoPure® Cloth Nappy Detergent

Product Description

Caret Down

Reusable nappies only work if the wash comes out clean. SoPure® Cloth Nappy Detergent is a cloth nappy detergent for nappies, inserts and liners. Most detergents leave residue that builds up in the fibres, which is what makes nappies repel and hold smell. SoPure® washes out clean.

It actually works. No optical brighteners, no petrochemical surfactants and no synthetic fragrance. Run a short pre-wash, then a long main wash with a full dose. Nappies come out with a fresh lemongrass scent. Best for parents washing cloth nappies day to day. Shop the safe lane.

How To Use

Caret Down

Separate colours and whites before washing. For heavy soiling or odours, pre-soak the nappies in cold water with one capful for 30 minutes. Wash as normal, then rinse well. Use 30 to 60ml for every 6kg load, depending on how soiled the nappies are.

FAQ

Caret Down

What type of detergent is safe to use on cloth nappies?

Use a detergent with enough cleaning power for soiled fabric. Avoid fabric softener, added oils and optical brighteners. Softeners and oils coat the fibres and stop nappies absorbing. SoPure® Cloth Nappy Detergent is made for reusable nappies. It carries no optical brighteners and no petrochemical surfactants, and it washes out clean.

How do I strip clean cloth nappies?

Stripping removes mineral and detergent buildup collected in the fibres over months. Wash the nappies clean first, then soak in a stripping agent. Rinse again and again until the water runs clear. Only strip when nappies genuinely repel or smell, because it is hard on elastics and covers. Washing with a detergent that rinses out clean is what keeps stripping rare.

What to wash cloth nappies with?

Start with a short pre-wash to clear the soiling. Then run a long main wash at 40 to 60 degrees with a full dose. Skip fabric softener entirely, because it coats the fibres. Line dry in the sun when you can, since sunlight lifts staining. SoPure® Cloth Nappy Detergent is built for that routine.

Can I use vinegar to strip cloth diapers?

Vinegar is a common home suggestion, but it is acidic and can wear elastics and waterproof covers over time. It also does not shift detergent buildup well. In hard water it reacts with minerals already in the fabric. The better long-term answer is a detergent that washes out clean, so buildup never forms. SoPure® Cloth Nappy Detergent does that.

What type of detergent is best for reusable nappies?

The best one cleans properly and leaves nothing behind. That rules out softeners, added oils and optical brighteners, which all coat fibres and cause repelling. It also rules out underdosing, the commonest cause of smelly nappies. SoPure® Naturally makes its Cloth Nappy Detergent in Johannesburg. It has been trusted by 100,000+ South African mums since 2005.
